Mallarmix
Mallarmix "Mallarmix" is a group of 20 video animations that mix Artificial Intelligence and poems of Stéphane Mallarmé. My goal was to test a computer's system semantic and symbolic limitations with the following questions: can Artificial Intelligence generate poetry? Is a computer capable of signifying reality on a symbolic level with its poetic language? What are the political implications of such issues? All the 'poems' on the installation were computer generated, following specific steps: - the AI makes a description of a painting of Günter Nosch, via AI Image Caption Generation; - the AI is "trained" to write in the style of Mallarmé; - the description of the painting is the initial input for the system to generate the poems; - all the pieces of music are composed of AI systems; - voices and sound effects are also computer-generated (text-to-speech and granular synthesis). The animations explore the visual possibilities of poetry, attempting to add a new layer of meaning to the texts. Presented at Haus der Kunst, Munich, Germany. ://youtu.be/NJcrACG_nL0://youtu.be/901VfhD65bc
