River, pulse, vein, tone, sound, dew, hope: nada

“Rio, pulsa, veia, tom, som, orvalho, esperaça: nada” Sculpture 1,15m hight x variable width Painted steel 2025 I am fascinated by the explanation of “Monade” by the philosopher Leibniz. He says a monade is an indivisible and immaterial element, that governs all living things. A monade is the mirror of the universe. Playing with the word MONADE, I imagined MONO-NADA. But the sculpture is the word NADA, collapsed into steel. What was my surprise to see the polysemic dimension of this word. “Nada”, in other languages, means: River, pulse, vein, tone, sound, dew, hope, among others. And the title integrates them, as a central part of the work: “River, pulse, vein, tone, sound, dew, hope: nada” exhibition "depois do silêncio," ( after the silence,) Curated by Omar Porto @ Orlando São Paulo, Brazil www.orlando.art.br
